Our grateful thanks are extended to the Youth Service Xpress Youth Forum for their donation of £3490 which has helped the Choir to put on this performance and have such an enjoyable day.  The money was awarded to the Choir under the Every Child Matters agenda.

We left Scunthorpe at 5.30 am on Sunday 9 November to make our way to Liverpool.  Everyone was excited, nervous and tired.  Arriving in Liverpool, City of Culture, at 9.00 am we made our way for a warm up before our sound check at 9.45 am.  Following our rehearsal and sound check we walked to Fact at Picturehouse where the staff greeted us and we were entertained watching the new James Bond film "Quantum of Solace".

Moving from the cinema we went the the Liverpool Cathedral, a wonderful and interesting 12th century building where we had a very welcome lunch in a wonderful setting.

We then made our way back to the Philharmonic for more rehearsal and warm up before the job of getting ready, make up, hair, change into uniform and then walking the short distance in the rain to take our place in the auditorium at the Philharmonic Hall.

By the time we went on stage to give our performance all choristers had been up for about 15 hours.  Despite this, they gave a performance that thrilled everyone in the Philharmonic Hall and was described by the judges as "almost perfect".

We had to wait a extended amount of time for the result as the judges had to decide not only the winner of the Open category but also the wildcard winners going to the finals in London on 7 December.  After what seemed like ages they returned and announced the winner of the category was indeed Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir.  The whole auditorium errupted as Leanne Blackburn and Hannah Doherty, who had returned from University to sing, went on stage to meet the judges and receive our very prestigious winners certificate.
